Build Websites That Actually Work
Eight months of focused learning where you'll move from sketches on paper to launching real sites. We skip the theory fluff and dive into how professional designers actually build for the web.
Learning That Mirrors Real Work
Most courses treat design like a linear process. First you learn this, then that, then somehow it clicks. But that's not how actual projects go.
Our approach puts you in realistic scenarios from week one. You'll work with actual content constraints, real browser quirks, and the kind of client feedback that changes everything at 4pm on a Friday.
We've spent years in agencies and studios. The curriculum reflects what we actually do daily, not what textbooks say we should do.
Three Phases, One Journey
We structure the program around how professionals actually develop skills. Each phase builds on the last, but you'll be creating real work from day one.
Foundations Phase
First ten weeks focus on core mechanics. You'll learn how layouts actually work, why typography matters beyond just picking fonts, and how colour systems hold entire designs together.
- HTML and CSS fundamentals
- Responsive design patterns
- Typography systems
- Colour theory in practice
Application Phase
Weeks eleven through twenty push you into complexity. Multiple page types, navigation systems, forms that don't frustrate users, and accessibility that's built in rather than bolted on.
- Component libraries
- User interface patterns
- Performance optimization
- Cross-browser testing
Portfolio Phase
Final twelve weeks centre on your portfolio projects. You'll work with volunteer clients, handle real feedback cycles, and learn to balance vision with practical constraints.
- Client communication
- Project management
- Portfolio development
- Career preparation
Your Eight Month Path
Here's what the journey looks like from enrolment through completion. Each milestone represents substantial skill development, not just ticked boxes.
Month One – Getting Your Bearings
You'll build your first responsive page and learn why mobile-first design isn't just a catchphrase. We cover semantic HTML, basic CSS layouts, and the fundamentals of design systems.
FoundationMonths Two Through Four – Building Complexity
Multi-page sites, navigation systems, and component thinking. You'll understand how professional developers organize their work and why consistency matters more than cleverness.
DevelopmentMonth Five – Midpoint Projects
You'll rebuild an existing site from scratch, which teaches you more about real-world decisions than any theoretical exercise. This is where things start clicking together.
ApplicationMonths Six and Seven – Portfolio Work
Working with actual clients changes everything. You'll learn to translate vague requests into clear design decisions, handle revision requests, and deliver work that satisfies real requirements.
Real ProjectsMonth Eight – Launch and Career Prep
Final polish on your portfolio, practice with technical interviews, and preparation for the job search. We help you present your work professionally and talk about design decisions with confidence.

Kai Svendsen
Junior Designer at Ember StudioI came in knowing some basic HTML from tinkering around. Eight months later, I was building complete sites and understanding why certain approaches work better than others. The portfolio projects gave me something real to show employers, which made all the difference when interviewing.
